When
I was a little girl, while other kids were playing cops and robbers, I played at being a clown. My
clown name, Pom-Pom, was inspired by the red skirts with multicolored
pom-poms my mother made my sister and me and by Co-Co the clown on the
telly. (English for t.v.) I forgot about my dream of being a clown until
in 1985 I met a couple who were clowns. Until then I thought that the
only clowns were in the circus. I found out that the City of Anaheim was
offering a class in clowning and the rest is, as they say, history.I have continued my clown education by attending as many conventions and workshops as possible. I attended my first convention in San Diego in 1987 while my two children had chicken pox. Fortunately my wonderful husband agreed to baby-sit. In 1992 I flew to Wisconsin to attend Clown Camp after having enjoyed two previous Clown Camps on the Road. I have also attended the two Cut-ups conventions in Anaheim. I have belonged to many clown organizations including The World Clown Association, Clowns of America International, The California Clowns, Hopi's Musical Clowns and Funny Business.I have clowned for the Jerry Lewis Telethon for muscular dystrophy, the Los Angeles Children's Museum, the United Way Kick-off for the County of Orange, Orange County Regional Libraries, many Preschools and Elementary Schools. I also worked at the La Mirada Swap Meet and Burger King for many years making balloons. I also do birthday parties and parades. I took 2nd place in the La Habra parade for 1996. I really enjoy working with kids, especially preschool and Elementary children. Clowning is the greatest joy in my life. My husband says that Pom-Pom is the real me. I recently quit my day job so that I could concentrate on being the real me. |
